Black and White Assignment


For this assignment I had to take several pictures which captured the contrast between black and white . These pictures were taken around Saline High School and my house. The assignment dictates that the pictures must follow the basic elements of composition, and be overall a high quality. Product Assignment

For this assignment I had to take several pictures which captured the still life of a product. I set up a studio in my basement and took picture there. The assignment dictates that the pictures must follow the basic elements of composition, and be overall a high quality. My best picture is a picture of a Coca-Cola bottle which also uses light painting to emphasize the product.

Gimp V: Context Assignment

I was assigned to take pictures around my school and add things that would not normally be seen at school to change the context. To edit the picture I used Gimp. In gimp I used the crop, lasso, move, saturate, and colorize tools to make it seem like the out of context image fit into the background image. Attached below is the edited picture.

Archiecture Assignment

For this assignment I had to take several pictures which captured the beauty of architecture. I took pictures inside and outside of Saline High School. Gimp IV: Portrait Demo

For this assignment I took portrait pictures in the studio using studio lighting, and in the hall using a light bounce card. The studio portrait involved using key, fill, hair, and background lights. The hall portrait involved using a light bounce card to reflect the light from a window onto the subjects face. Using gimp I complied the two portrait images into one file and added borders around them and a background. Below is the resulting image.

Motion Assignment

For this assignment I had to take several pictures which used the time veritable mode (shutter speed) to capture motion. I took pictures around my house. The assignment dictates that the pictures must follow the basic elements of composition, and be overall a high quality. Posted below is what I believe to be my best picture and a slide-show of my top 10 pictures. My best picture is a picture of the water from a faucet hitting a glass at a high shutter speed.

Gimp III: Panoramic Assignment

In this assignment I was assigned to take three pictures around Saline High School and turn them into a panoramic photograph. I used the Gimp scale, shear, prospective, and crop tools to merge the three pictures into one panoramic photograph.

Gimp Assignment II - Car Retouch

We were given a picture of a car displayed at an auto show and assigned to edit the picture and remove impurities. In the assignment I learned how to use the crop, clone, layers, levels, and burn tools to edit photos.

Gimp Assignment


In this assignment I learned how to use multiple tools offered by the Gimp program. For the assignment I cropped a self picture, unsharpened the picture, and added color. The picture was then given an "Andy Warhol" effect.

Composition Assignment

Assignment Description: After learning about the first 11 elements of composition I was assigned to take pictures which contain these elements. The elements were pattern, symmetry. texture, depth of field, lines, rule of thirds, framing, perspective, space, balance, and color.

Photo Descriptions:

1. Pattern = lockers
2. Symmetry = staircase
3. Lines = windows
4. Texture = wall tiles
5. Depth of Field = hallway
6. Framing = window framing tree
7. Perspective = notebook on floor
8. Balance = recycle bin and stool on stairs
9. Color = stool against lockers
10. Space = recycle bin against white wall
11. Rule of Thirds = boy against lockers




Through this assignment I have learned that the 11 elements of composition can be used to make pictures look more attractive. From now on I will include these elements in all pictures that I take.
